On a recent trip to Ladlow we stopped on the way for a walk up Clee Hill. On the way up we had to pass the ruins of the former Quarry, which had the reminiscence of an abandoned space station build on the moon by Russians during the space race. I found the sign on the way down...

During a recent trip to Krakow in Poland I walked past this sign daily and I could not stop myself wondering what had there been first, the broken sign or the name of the shop...;-).

London's Stansted Airport has gone through many "face lifts" and changes over the past years and as a regular traveler I have witnessed many changes over the years. In 2008, after a summer holiday in Bavaria, I came across this sign outside the terminal in a designated smoking area.
Miss-leading directions, signage which has faded since a long time or has been taped over, a camera which does not provide security...a signage in an identity crisis?

On a recent trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, this sign was trying to warn visitors from stepping onto the ski jump, although I am not sure if it will stop the German speaking visitors from doing so...
A sign I came across in Bath a while ago, which made me wonder what it read before and why it was changed in the first place.
I found this sign in Birmingham near Curzon Street Station in New Canal Street. After driving past this truly beautiful example almost everyday over the last couple of years on the way to work, I finally managed to take a snapshot.

Multilingual dyslexia

During a recent trip to Cologne in Germany I discovered this signage on the lift leading to the viewing platform on top of the KölnTriangle, which is a great way to discover the town. The viewing platform was opened less then two years ago, however the signage already looks pretty knackered.
Beautiful how visual dyslexia has been translated into different languages.

This image describes how I am sometimes not able to read words, as I can not piece the letters together. Although I can identify marks and signs on a page and I do speak the language, I can not make out how to read and pronounce the word or I simple skip past certain words like they are non-existent. With the years I have learned to deal with it and work around it. In middle school however I was laughed at for my poor pronunciation and I had lengthy arguments with my dad, who could not understand at that time, why I could not read properly.
This screen shot was taken during an ichat conversation with my girl friend, we were trying out different ichat smileys.

Pixelation on digital TV

Ever since the switch over to digital television I have been fascinated by the sudden pixelation and brake up of the film footage. I am bewitched by beautiful colours, abstract forms, shapes and compositions and a typical representation of our modern, technological-driven time.
Just like seen on TV, I am listening to people, then suddenly I stop, I am stuck, and I wonder about the right spelling of a word or the understanding of a word (just like the picture that can not compose itself right)...
...just to realise that the speaker has long moved on and I have missed the "plot".

Sometimes I just can not work out which letters I need to cho0se, although I know that in the word certain letters are spelled wrong.
I took this picture month ago near the train station on a visit to Bath.

The paint and the wooden planks are doing a good job, even the tree branches help to further distort the image.
WHAT has happened here? WHAT will happen next?
Watch this space, as I am sure the "anti-dyslexic police" will surely do a decent job soon.

Lost for letters

This image kind of describes, how it feels to know something is missing, wrong, etc. if you write something, but you are not quite sure what it is, and you are stuck and you do not know how to continue....
I saw this derelict building, which makes for such a powerful image in Bristol on a way back home to Birmingham.
